Built so everyone can take part

How we approach accessibility in The Nonprofit LMS, and how to tell us when something gets in the way.

The people taking your courses include volunteers on their phones, participants using screen readers, and staff who navigate with a keyboard. We build The Nonprofit LMS so all of them can take part.

Our standard

The Nonprofit LMS is built to WCAG 2.1 AA. We're still finishing manual screen reader testing, so we say "built to" rather than "fully compliant." When that testing is done, we'll update this page.

What that looks like in the plugin

  • Keyboard and screen reader support throughout the course player and the registration form
  • A visible focus outline for keyboard users, in your brand color
  • Date fields shown as month, day and year dropdowns instead of a calendar popup, so they work the same on every device and with screen readers
  • Slideshows with real Previous and Next buttons, a live slide counter and arrow key support
  • A brand color tool that checks contrast for buttons, links, tinted panels and the focus outline, and adjusts most of them for you
  • A certificate designer that works from the keyboard (Pro)
  • A course player that works on phones and tablets

This website

We aim for the same standard on thenonprofitlms.com, with readable type, strong color contrast and visible keyboard focus.

Tell us about a barrier

If something in the plugin or on this site gets in your way, please let us know. Tell us what you were trying to do and what you use to browse, like a screen reader or keyboard, and we'll work on a fix.
