Marking correct answers and how answers are judged

How to mark the right answer for each question type, and exactly how the grader decides.

Marking the correct answer

  • Multiple Choice: the round button beside an option marks it as the correct answer. One per question.
  • Multi-Select: uses checkboxes instead, and every box you tick is part of the correct answer.
  • True/False: pick which of the two is true. If a true/false question shows neither one selected, nothing is marked yet, so every student is being marked wrong. Pick one.

True and False show in your site’s language.

How an answer is judged

A multiple-choice or true/false answer is right when it’s the same text as an option you marked correct, and for no other reason.

Two answers with the same text

If two answers to a question read the same, the builder says: Two answers have the same text. A student who picks either one gets the same result. A student’s pick is judged by its text, so the two can’t be told apart. Change one of them.

For short answers, see Short answer questions. If a question has no answer that can be marked right, see When the builder says a question has no correct answer.
