Personal data exports and erasure requests

The plugin works with WordPress's own privacy tools, and lets you choose to de-identify or delete learning records.

The plugin plugs into WordPress’s built-in privacy tools (Tools, then Export Personal Data, and Tools, then Erase Personal Data). A student’s LMS records are included when you fulfill a data request:

  • profile answers (an address listed part by part)
  • consent, including the wording of the notice they agreed to, as they saw it
  • enrollments and progress
  • quiz and survey responses, including when an instructor reset a quiz attempt
  • files they uploaded (the export names each file)

A student’s name is part of their WordPress account, which the standard export already covers.

What an erasure does

Under Settings, then Data Management you choose what an erasure request does to learning records:

  • De-identify them, keeping anonymous completion statistics
  • Permanently delete everything

Erasing a student’s data also removes files they uploaded but never submitted. Those files are cleaned up on their own once they’re a day old anyway.

If you uninstall

Uninstalling the plugin keeps your data unless you choose otherwise.

The registration consent notice, and the privacy policy and terms pages it links to, live on the Consent tab. See Privacy consent and the linked pages.
