Reset a student’s quiz attempts

Give a student their tries back without losing a single answer.

When a student has used up their attempts and needs another try, you can give their tries back.

  1. Go to Students and click the student.
  2. Find the quiz in their list of attempts.
  3. Press Reset attempts beside it and confirm. The confirmation names the student and the quiz.

The button is there for administrators and that course’s instructors.

Nothing is deleted

Every attempt and every answer stays in Reports, marked Reset. A passed attempt still counts as passed, so a reset never takes a completion away. The student can take the quiz again, up to its attempt limit.

You might also see attempts marked Expired (a timed attempt the student left after its time ran out) or In progress. There’s no reset button on a quiz that’s been removed from the course.

Pro’s CSV exports list a reset attempt like any other for now. The student’s page is where you see that it was reset.
