Create a course and how the builder saves your work

The course builder's three areas, and how autosave works so you never lose an edit.

Go to The Nonprofit LMS in the admin menu and add a new course. The course builder opens with three areas:

  • Course Info: title, description, categories, featured image, an optional intro video for the course’s public page, and the Page layout toggle
  • Curriculum: the topics and content students work through
  • Settings: enrollment, certificate and completion options

Your work saves itself

A couple of seconds after you stop typing in a lesson, quiz, assignment, topic or survey, the builder saves it. The status at the top reads Unsaved changes, then Saving…, then Saved.

The builder sends one save at a time for each open editor, so an older save can never land on top of a newer one. Done waits for a save that’s already on its way, so on a slow connection an editor can take a moment to close. If a save hasn’t answered after fifteen seconds, the editor closes anyway, and the waiting change is sent as soon as that save finishes.

Leave the course builder open until the status reads Saved.

If an editor ever closes with the status Error saving, reopen the item and check the last change you made. It may need to be made again.
