Adding video and text to a lesson

Use YouTube, Vimeo or your Media Library, require the whole video, and stop students skipping ahead.

Video

A lesson’s video can come from your Media Library, YouTube or Vimeo. Paste the address and the plugin works out which.

You can set the video’s duration (it’s detected automatically for YouTube and Vimeo) and choose whether students may skip ahead. With skipping prevented, students can only seek within what they’ve already watched. A video counts as watched, and the lesson can complete, once 95% of it has played. The player has keyboard shortcuts.

Lessons without a video are completed with a Mark Complete button.

Text and images

Lesson text uses the familiar WordPress editor. Use Add Media to insert images, choosing the size, alt text and caption in the media window, and Insert/edit link to add links, just like in a post.

Shortcodes work inside lesson content, so the plugin’s own shortcodes can sit inside a lesson too. A progress bar or an enroll button for another course, for example.
